Grow with God at Lipscomb
At Lipscomb University, our highest commitment is to provide a ton of opportunities for you to engage your faith. Our students take time each and every day to pause from their busy schedules to pursue Jesus and grow their faith.
Some of these opportunities include:
Chapel: Lipscomb conducts Chapel at 10 am on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Ezell Swang Chapel, Shamblin Theater, Swang, and Ward Lecture Hall. The assemblies last approximately 20 minutes with content consisting of a variety of speakers, worship leaders, drama groups, presentations and devotional time. Scott McDowell, Dean of Campus Life, and Brandon Steele, Chapel Coordinator, oversee the content and format of chapel. Students meet in Small Groups on Fridays in various locations.
University Bible: UB is conducted at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in Allen Arena. Each semester has a different theme with a short period of praise and worship followed by the Biblical teaching from a variety of some of our campus' most gifted communicators. University Bible is considered part of the university curriculum and as your daily Bible class for Tuesday/Thursdays. Find out more about the requirements by clicking here.
Sanctuary: Thursdays at 9:00 are the highlight of the week for most of our students. That is when Sanctuary, a student-led time of worship held at Woodmont Hills Church of Christ, takes place. Praise, reflection and prayer are the centerpieces of Sanctuary. Check it out next time you are on campus!
Missions: Over 700 of our students participated in University-led missions during Spring Break last year. Students went to 17 countries, as well as all over the United States to minister to the homeless, work in orphanages, build Habitat houses, and a ton of other stuff! It is amazing to see the commitment of Lipscomb students to reaching out beyond the border of Nashville, Tennessee.
Of course, this is a partial list. But taking part in these and other activities will help you build
spiritual habits that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
