CAMPUS LIFE   SPORTS

Sports, athletics and physical fitness play an all-star role in life at Lipscomb for many students. As we seek growth and learn to be spiritual leaders, it's important that we maintain our physical health as well. Teamwork and sportsmanship help us grow together. Not only do they provide multiple opportunities for student bonding, our athletic and recreational activities have a reputation for being all-inclusive and fun for all involved.

Here's what Lipscomb has to offer when you want to get active...

Bison Athletics
Tailgate parties. Purple and yellow. Pumped up crowds packed into the 5,000-seat Allen Arena. The Battle of the Boulevard, where the Bisons go head to head with our archrivals, Belmont University. Games against big name competition like LSU, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Arkansas and South Carolina. That's what Bison athletics means to us!

The Lipscomb intercollegiate athletic program is led by our athletic director Steve Potts. The program is an active member of the NCAA at the Division I level and is a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Our men's basketball and women's volleyball teams rank among the top teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Lipscomb athletics fields the following teams:

Men's sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor track, soccer, tennis and track.

Women's sports: basketball, cross country, golf, indoor track, soccer, softball, tennis, track and volleyball.

Cheerleaders
A squad of up to twelve cheerleaders is selected following tryouts at the beginning of fall semester. The cheerleaders are under the supervision of the athletic administrator.

Intramural Athletics
Intercollegiate sports not for you? Then consider our strong intramural athletic program. Leagues are offered in a variety of fun sports and activities: flag football, softball, co-ed softball, basketball, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, soccer and golf. Plus, we also sponsor special tournaments in tennis, table tennis and other sports. This good-spirited competition is a significant component of recreation on campus and is a fun way for students to get active, get involved and meet new people.

Campus Recreation
Even if you don't have time to participate in team sports at Lipscomb, you can still embrace your inner athlete. Lipscomb's state of the art Student Activities Center offers recreational activities and equipment for all students. You can hit the basketball or racquetball courts, work out in the weight room, get fit in the aerobics room or go for a quiet run on the track. The SAC also offers various exercise equipment and lighted tennis courts.
