            <description>Lipscomb University Athletic Director Philip Hutcheson has announced that Greg Brown has been named the fourth head coach in the history of the women’s basketball program. Brown, 41, was the associate women&#39;s basketball coach at the University of Central Florida (UCF) and is a former assistant for Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt.  He has spent the last five seasons at UCF, helping lead the Knights to two Conference USA championships in 2009 and 2011, resulting in two NCAA berths.</description>

Proceeds from the event will benefit Davis’ institute, the only research-based organization of its kind working within the media and entertainment industry and the Andrews Institute’s collaboration with Geena Davis and Nashville Public Television (NPT) for a new Citizen Leadership Academy for women and girls.</description>

            <description>For the past four years, Lipscomb University has been home to 26 students from Madagascar, the largest group of such students at a university in the United States. In the fall of 2008, these students enrolled at Lipscomb after a rigorous selection process through which they earned the opportunity for a college degree paid for by the Malagasy government. On Saturday, May 5, these students walked across the stage to receive their college degrees from Lipscomb University. Former president of Madagascar Marc Ravalomanana and Madagascar’s former ambassador to the U.S. Jocelyn Radifera sent messages to the graduating students and the Lipscomb community to mark the occasion.</description>

            <description>A standing-room only crowd of more than 5,000 people helped Lipscomb mark several historic milestones during spring 2012 commencement Saturday, May 5, in Allen Arena. The ceremony marked the largest graduating class in Lipscomb’s history as the university awarded 542 degrees to May graduates and 134 degrees to August graduates to 627 participants. More graduate-level students—197—graduated than in any previous spring semester. The Class of 2012 also included the largest-ever class in nursing and in the bachelor’s in business and sustainability programs.</description>

            <description>Lipscomb University’s College of Education (COE), a known leader and innovator in education in the state of Tennessee, recently received reaccreditation and approval of 22 new or revised teacher education programs by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), a national agency dedicated to improving student learning by improving the quality of teacher education. During the NCATE accreditation site visit earlier this month, the College of Education’s 18 revised teacher licensure programs and four new programs were approved with no areas for improvement cited.
